DMOND Speaker Series With Alireza Taghaboni, A Story of a Contemporary Designer

Alireza Taghaboni is an acclaimed Iranian architect, painter, and a university lecturer. His innovative designs have captured hearts and minds of people across the globe. He founded his studio called “Next Office” in 2010 with the philosophy of creating original designs, pursuing idealism while being mindful of economics, cultural, and geographical conditions of each project. Next Office believes that changing the face of our city is still possible.

In recent years, Alireza Taghaboni’s name has become synonymous with winning numerous prestigious architectural awards both on national and international levels. First prize for QCEO building design competition in 2007 and 2010, two time top prize winner of the Grand Me’mar Award in 2008, and 2010, are just a few of his accomplishments. In 2014, he received the Middle East Architect Awards. More importantly, he was selected as one of the prominent architects of 2014 at the prestigious World Architectural Festival held in Singapore. His famous rotating Sharifiha-House was also nominated as the most popular architectural design of the year by ArchDaily.

Dr. Taghaboni received his PhD in architecture from Science and Research branch of Azad University in 2007. He was ranked number one at doctorate entrance exam. He also received his Bachelors of Art and Master’s degree in architecture and urban planning from University of Gilan.
